After the tragic news of the death of Solvents songwriter Jarrod Paul Bramson broke over the weekend, Northwest artists – particularly those closest to the Port Townsend music scene – have been quick to pay tribute.
A new covers album of Solvents material is reportedly in the works and is currently taking submissions from artists. Among those who are helping organize and participating in the project are Your Heart Breaks’ Clyde Petersen, Kimya Dawson, Karl Blau, one-time Solvents member Seth Raymond, as well as The Gift Machine’s Andrea and Dave Matthies.
The album is still in the works, though the tentative tracklist shared in the Facebook event already includes covers from those aforementioned as well as contributions from LAKE, Levi Fuller & The Library, Dr. Light, and more. Submissions currently have a June 1 deadline.
”Anything from fancy studios to 4-tracks to cell phone recordings! All are welcome!” reads the description for the Facebook event, which has become the hub for updates on the project.
Proceeds from the project will go to Bramson’s Solvent’s bandmate and wife Emily Madden. The album will eventually be made available on Bandcamp.
More details on the tribute and how to get involved are available here. A GoFundMe to support Madden is also still taking donations.
The Port Townsend songwriter passed away on March 27. He was 43-years-old.
