Uji is the solo alias of Argentinian electronic musician Luis Maurette. Born and based in Buenos Aires, Uji spent a majority of his life traveling and living throughout the American continent, growing up amidst a diversity of sounds and cultures. This rich background has heavily influenced his own music, which blends his roots in indigenous, folkloric and African music with contemporary electro-acoustic production.
After releasing five albums between 2005 and 2016 as one-half of the duo Lulacruza, Uji released his solo debut album Alborada last year on ZZK Records.
