The Flaming Lips have announced that they are celebrating 35 years of making music by releasing remasters of their earliest work. Their first release will be a single-disc compilation called Scratching The Door: The First Recordings Of The Flaming Lips, which will be out April 20. They’ll follow that in May with a six-CD box set comprising their output for Restless Records called Seeing The Unseeable: The Complete Studio Recordings Of The Flaming Lips 1986-1990. Alongside the announcement, the band has premiered a rare track called "The Flaming Lips Theme Song 1983" which has never been released online before and was previously only available on an extremely limited 7″ in 2013. Mark Oliver Everett is releasing a new Eels album, The Deconstruction, next week. Today, he's shared the third single off the album, "Bone Dry," which follows the album's title track and "Today Is the Day." The latter received the video treatment with a joyous clip starring Mike Mitchell, Everett's fellow co-star on the Netflix comedy Love. The Deconstruction is out April 6 via E Works/PIAS. Gorillaz have been dropping hints that a new album is soon on its way, and last night at a concert in Santiago, Chile the band performed a brand new song called "Hollywood." Based on the footage it sounds like Snoop Dogg makes a feature on the track. Damon Albarn claims the song was written in the city its title derives from, just as the song "Idaho," which he's been playing during concerts lately, is as well. Gorillaz released Humanz last year. Long-running Toronto indie band Stars have shared a new single today called "Ship to Shore." The one-off song follows 2017's There Is No Love in Fluorescent Light and is accompanied by a video from Natalka Proszak, which features vintage sepia-toned clips. Stars will be in Seattle on Wednesday, June 13 to play the Neptune. [ Stereogum ]
