Serendipity gave rise to the band NO; the founding members met each other, by chance, in a Los Angeles diner and began sharing stories of their favorite musicians and disastrous relationships. Like all greats, their music has a melancholy tinge without being too sentimental. NO frontman Bradley Hanan Carter warbles in a baritone similar to The National's Matt Beringer as minimalistic drums and easy guitar trail around his lyrical lamentations. About the band's origins, Carter stated, "We wanted something to believe in. It sounds kind of dramatic, but there was really nothing to wake up for at the time." This revelation motivated NO to ban together and begin fine-tuning their sound. They have one album underneath their belt, El Prado, and are touring throughout the U.S., stopping at Neumos on June 14th.
