Midnight in a Perfect World: Shayk

Shayk is a Birmingham, UK-based producer, DJ, and rapper of British-Indian heritage. Last year he co-produced Jorja Smith’s smash single “The Way I Love You” and this year he released his brilliant debut album FORWARD, a standout underground grime record that showcases his adventurous, sample-heavy, top-shelf beats and steady, gritty, sneaky cool flow.

For his exclusive guest DJ mix for Midnight in a Perfect World, Shayk takes the listener on a sweet cruise through an array of styles with choice nighttime cuts that encapsulate his forward-thinking aesthetic. He shares, "This mix makes me feel like I'm on a late night bus journey through my city, staring out the window and letting my mind explore. I've been using inspiration from lots of different genres and I'm always fascinated working out how to cross them over."
