Every year, KEXP presents special programming for Aqui y Ahora, a month-long celebration of music and stories from Latin artists here in Seattle and across the world. KEXP’s Roddy Nikpour heard from five artists that you might classify as ambient, shoegaze, or post-rock (think Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Rós). Some of them have performed alongside some of the most well-known post-rock bands of all time, like Mogwai and MONO.
Each band spent some time talking about their place in the scene, and they each gave a shout out to another artist that they’re really into right now:
Bands we spoke with for this piece:
Fin del Mundo (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Austin TV (Mexico City, Mexico)
Asimov (Guatemala City, Guatemala)
Ezmeralda (Bogotá, Colombia)
The Polar Dream (Guadalajara, Mexico)
Bands they recommended:
Mabe Fratti (Mexico City, Mexico)
Adiós Cometa (San José, Costa Rica)
Dylan Thomas. (San José, Costa Rica)
Brenda (Bogotá, Colombia)
Birdhaus (Guadalajara, Mexico)
