Midnight in a Perfect World: Melati ESP

Melati ESP is the alias of Indonesian-born, NYC-based multidisciplinary artist Melati Malay. Relocating to NYC from Jakarta in her early 20s, Melati has collaborated with British trip-hop pioneer Tricky, American cellist and composer Kelsey Lu, Keifing-born Vancouver based producer Yu Su, and innovative 70’s French composer Ariel Kalma, and she's part of multinational experimental trio Asa Tone. On April 26th, she released her debut solo album as Melati ESP titled hipernatural, an adventurous electronic-pop record that marked her first work recorded entirely in her native Indonesian language.

Beautifully describing her mix as "Equatorial, bioluminescent moods for your midnight Sunday listening," Melati ESP's Midnight in a Perfect World mix is a hypnotic journey through dreamy breaks, blissful ambient, and cerebral club rhythms perfectly designed to "accompany the listener as they drifted off gently into daydreams or nightdreams and thoughts of better futures."

Midnight in a Perfect World, KEXP's weekly hour-long guest DJ show, airs Fridays at midnight.
