Mykki Blanco is a trailblazing LA-based transgender artist known for pushing hip-hop to some of its most untethered bounds, melding noise and experimental elements with club and trap sounds, while also forging a uniquely subversive path within a genre historically entangled in a problematic ideological web of misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia. Over the past decade, Mykki has forged their own genre-blurring path on their solo releases while also collaborating with a vast array of artists including Basement Jaxx, Kathleen Hanna, Teyana Taylor, Kanye West, and Matrixxman. Mykki's latest sonic statement emerged last month with the release of Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep, an expansive mini-album produced mainly by NYC electronic producer FaltyDL that explores a hip-hop sound infused with R&B, house, bossa nova, and more, and features guest appearances by Blood Orange, Jamila Woods, Big Freedia, and Kari Faux.
Mykki's guest DJ mix for Midnight In A Perfect World is a truly eclectic journey through their wide-ranging influences, sneaking in a couple unreleased collaborations with FaltyDL before exploring timeless jams from all over the musical spectrum.
