A previously unreleased track from Charles Bradley has surfaced today, thanks to Innit Recordings. Stream the single "Lucifer" below. The song was recorded during a tumultuous time in 2016. Bradley had just endured months of chemotherapy for his stomach cancer treatment and Obama was at the end of his presidency.
“Charles knew what he wanted to say and he said it quickly,” said the song's co-writer and co-producer James Levy in a statement. “He wore his heart on his sleeve. A true singer.”
"Lucifer" is said to be Bradley's final recording. Last year, he posthumously released the full-length Black Velvet — check out a write-up from KEXP DJ OCnotes, host of Sunday Soul.
