Last month, Los Angeles sister-duo Bleached unveiled their first new music in two years, the stripped-down single “Shitty Ballet.” Today, they’ve announced a forthcoming album, Don’t You Think You’ve Had Enough?, out July 12 via Dead Oceans and shared the second single, “Hard to Kill.”
The groovy whistle and cowbell-filled single tackles the difficult subject matter of “staring down the road towards death and realizing I needed to wake up and get out of my selfish patterns of self destruction,” according to Jennifer Clavin. The record is the first since the Clavin sisters got sober, with much of the record reflecting back on the people they’ve been in the past and the damage done. The song arrives via a glamorously shot video by sister directorial team Juliana and Nicky Giraffe that sees the Clavin sisters as criminals on the run.
“Writing these songs while sober became somewhat of a spiritual experience,” Jennifer explains. “I had to let go, trust the process, and allow an energy beyond my control to be present.”
Don’t You Think You’ve Had Enough? is the third record from Bleached, following 2016’s Welcome the Worms. The record was produced by Shane Stoneback (Sleigh Bells, Vampire Weekend) and was recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville last year.
