DoNormaal Encompasses the Cosmos with “magic doNormaal” Music Video (KEXP Premiere)

It’s been two years since DoNormaal dropped her excellent sophomore album THIRD DAUGHTER, but I’m not convinced the Seattle rapper exists within our time continuum – or confines of our perceived reality. She’ll play multiple shows in town on the same night and isn’t afraid to rap over marching band fanfare and film a video for it at the Seattle Boat Show.

In short, DoNormaal is magic.

Even as she continues to hype her upcoming project yippee, DoNormaal is reminding us of the enchantments of THIRD DAUGHTER with a new music video for standout track “magic doNormaal.”

Directed by Reed McCoy, the video opens with DoNormaal floating in space. She looks confident encompassing the totality of the cosmos as she raps, “You don't know me but I’m that bitch. You don’t know the bitch yet but I'm that chick.”

DoNormaal does come back to Earth repeatedly throughout the video – riding in the back of a pick-up truck in the dark, standing on a dock in a blue jumpsuit that matches the water surrounding her, and donning camouflage and moon boots on a boat in front of the Seattle skyline. In every scene, celestial or not, her casual confidence is hypnotic and entrancing.

While we eagerly await what she conjures up with yippee, the “magic doNormaal” video is another reminder of DoNormaal’s mesmerizing prowess and vision. Watch the video below.
