In 2017, legendary UK shoegazers Ride released their first album in 21 years, Weather Diaries. Today they’ve announced they’re not waiting another two decades to release their next album. In fact, it will be out this summer. Titled This Is Not A Safe Place, the record is the sixth from the band and is due out August 26 via Wichita Recordings.
Today, they've shared the album’s gauzy lead single “Future Love." Frontman Andy Bell says the song is about “the beginning of a relationship, when everything feels possible.” Indeed, the lyrics reflect the optimism of new love, “Skies are blue / And I can’t do anything / And the days seem so long / Now you’ve got me going / Yeah, you’ve got me going.”
This Is Not A Safe Place was produced by Erol Alkan, who also worked with the band on Weather Diaries, and was mixed by Alan Moulder and Caesar Edmunds.
