London-based Afro-funk band Ibibio Sound Machine have shared the latest single from their forthcoming sophomore record Doko Mien. Titled “Guess We’ve Found a Way,” the song is a groovy slow-burner similar to the experimental R&B of Neneh Cherry. It’s a different direction from the band’s previous singles “Basquiat,” “Tell Me (Doko Mien),” and “Wanna Come Down,” which all dabbled in upbeat disco funk.
Ibibio Sound Machine’s core members are Nigerian singer Eno Williams and Ghanaian guitarist Alfred “Kari” Bannerman. Previously, Williams has said of the new record, “Music is a universal language, but spoken language can help you think about what makes you emotional, what makes you feel certain feelings, what you want to see in the world.”
Doko Mien is out March 22 via Merge Records. Listen to “Guess We’ve Found a Way” below.
Ibibio Sound Machine will perform at KEXP's International Clash Day London broadcast on Monday, Feb. 4
The Afro-disco duo also share album's lead single "Tell Me (Doko Mien)."
