While it took 3 years for Anderson .Paak to release a new album between Malibu and Oxnard, it’s only going to take a fraction of that time between Oxnard and his recently announced forthcoming album Ventura. Due for release on April 12, the album comes just five months after the release of Oxnard in November.
Today, he’s shared the lead single off the new record, “King James.” An ode to Los Angeles Laker Lebron James, .Paak raps, “And we salute King James for using his chains/ To create some equal opportunities,” pointing out the good work James has done in fighting injustice and giving back to his community.
André 3000, Smokey Robinson, Lalah Hathaway, Jazmine Sullivan, Sonyae Elise, Brandy, and the late Nate Dogg all make an appearance on Ventura. Listen to “King James” below.
The new song comes from .Paak's forthcoming third full-length Oxnard.
"Tints" follows this summer's massive hit "Bubblin"
