Minneapolis singer/rapper Lizzo is releasing her third studio album and first for a major label, Cuz I Love You, on April 19. We’ve already heard the feel-good lead single “Juice” and today she’s shared the record’s title track, a fiery soulful ballad that proves Lizzo’s not here to play! Pouring her absolute all into the emotive song, she belts “I’m crying/Cuz I love you” stirring the heartstrings with every note.
She’s also shared a video for the song, directed by Quinn Wilson. The black-and-white clip features close-up shots of Lizzo in full retro-glam interspersed with shots of her at an altar, crooning the song as if it was a sermon to a group of attentive men in white. Hear her sermon firsthand when she plays Showbox SODO on Sunday, April 28.
Lizzo's last release was 2016’s Coconut Oil EP. Watch the video for “Cuz I Love You” and her 2017 KEXP in-studio performance below.
