It's been three years since Lido Pimienta released her Polaris Prize-winning LP La Papessa, but today she shares the stand-alone single “No Pude.”

Via a press release, the Canadian-Colombian artist explains the ethereal, emotional electro-pop track:

“No pude means: I could not. In the context of the song it means something to the effect of, 'I am tired of trying.' The words speak directly to the sense of dread and constant anxiety my home country gives me. ‘No Pude’ sums up the love / hate relationship I have with Colombia. I hold Colombia close to my heart and my soul, but that loves turns into rage and shame as fast as a match takes to burn.”

Listen to the track via a video directed by Fitto Segura below, and revisit her KEXP session filmed at Kex Hostel in Reykjavik during the 2018 Iceland Airwaves Music Festival. “No Pude” is out now via ANTI-.
