Last month, Netflix released the film Between Two Ferns: The Movie starring Zach Galifianakis, an adaptation of his popular Funny or Die webseries. The movie boasts several celebrity cameos, but most notably presents Matt Berninger of The National dueting with Phoebe Bridgers in a barroom scene.
Today, they share a video for the track, co-directed by Matt's sibling Tom (who also directed the National documentary Mistaken For Strangers) and Chris Sgroi using behind-the-scenes studio footage. The song was written specifically for Between Two Ferns: The Movie by Berninger in collaboration with his wife, writer Carin Besser, and musician Mike Brewer. Walter Martin and Matt Barrick of The Walkmen help out on guitar and drums, respectively. Watch below.
In the conversation, the two chat about the band's desire to stretch themselves, centering women in their record and performance, and what it means to constantly be evolving as musicians.
The duo surprise-released their debut collaborative album today and performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
