Beastie Boys' Mike D and Ad-Rock have announced an immersive six-day book tour in support of their forthcoming memoir: Beastie Boys Book: Lives & Direct. The events will feature readings, a Q&A session with Mike D (Michael Diamond) and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz) alongside a guest moderator, and a live score provided by the group’s longtime DJ Mix Master Mike. Additionally, there will be an exhibit curated by Beastie Boys & Beyond the Streets in partnership with Adidas Skateboarding and a “sound experience,” featuring a mixtape curated by Ad-Rock and Mike D and provided by Sonos.
The nearly 600-page book, set to arrive on Oct. 30, covers the “transition from teenage punks to budding rappers; their early collaboration with Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin; the almost impossible-to-fathom overnight success of their debut studio album Licensed to Ill; that album’s messy fallout; their break with Def Jam, move to Los Angeles, and rebirth as musicians and social activists, with the genre-defying masterpiece Paul’s Boutique.”
Tickets to the book tour go on sale Friday and will include a physical copy of the book with every ticket purchased, available to redeem upon entry to the event. The book tour kicks off at New York City's Town Hall a day before the release on October 29 and will conclude in London on Nov. 30.
