A new music project has debuted called 180dB that’s built around Savages members Fay Milton and Ayse Hassan. Today, we hear the first song from the supergroup, “Road Trip,” which features Perfect Pussy frontwoman Meredith Graves and Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner.
“Road Trip” came to be after a chance meeting between Milton and UK producer Goldie at a political rally last year, where he played her his then-unreleased collaboration with UK grime MC Skepta’s 2017 collab “Upstart (Road Trip).” Goldie apparently told Milton he wanted to hear a “raging punk” version which is what Milton and the 180dB crew did, replacing Skepta’s verses with ones written and sung by Graves. The song is the first peek at the forthcoming full-length that 180dB is currently working on. It comes with a video directed by Fay Milton, shot by Simone Pellegrini and Giorgio Testi, and edited by Luca Previtali.
Savages’ last release was 2016’s Adore Life. Perfect Pussy’s debut and sole LP thus far has been 2014’s Say Yes To Love. Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their fourth studio album, Mosquito, in 2013. Watch the video for “Road Trip” and Savages’ KEXP in-studio performance from 2013 below.
