Animal Collective’s sixth studio album Feels was released in 2005 and has been long out of print. Today that changes with the release of a remastered and reissued two-disc vinyl copy of the critically-acclaimed record. Alongside the reissue, the band has shared a never-before-released bootleg for a 2004 show in Seattle at Neumos. The show, which took place on August 22, 2004, was made up primarily of would-be Feels songs and was the first time Feels producer Scott Colburn heard any of the material from the record.
“We had already asked him to record the album but we didn’t have demos and he wanted to hear the material first,” Geologist explains in a statement. “He was playing in Climax Golden Twins at the time, who were also on the bill with us and Black Dice that night, so this was the test. Luckily, our set sealed the deal and we all moved into his house six months later to start tracking. A small part of us never left. If we’ve seemed a bit rushed after Seattle shows in the years since, it’s because we were in a hurry to get back there for another late night VHS horror movie screening.”
The two-disc vinyl is in stores and available for order today via the band’s label My Animal Home at http://bit.ly/feelsonvinyl. Below, read the tracklisting for the reissue and listen to a KEXP in-studio session with the band that dates back to 2007, after the release of Strawberry Jam.

The deeper we get into Animal Collective's Painting With chapter, the more it feels like a real renaissance for the band. It feels like a long time since we last saw Animal Collective, not because three and a half years is an egregiously long time to wait for a new album, but because so much has happened since then, both within the Collective and out of it. Centipede Hz came out in September of 2012, an album which, i…
