Indie pop artist Lorely Rodriguez has announced a new Empress Of album for release this fall. Titled Us, the record is due out October 19 via Terrible Records (Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor's label). She’s also shared the album’s lead single “When I’m With Him,” which sees Rodriguez switch between English and Spanish while telling the story of a toxic relationship.
“I use Spanish [when] something is so personal that I can’t really sing about it in English,” Rodriquez explains to The FADER. “It’s almost like an alter ego to sing in Spanish.” The song comes with a video that takes place in Rodriguez’s hometown of East Los Angeles. Us follows her 2015 debut Me.
