Josh Tillman released his fourth record under the name Father John Misty earlier this month titled God’s Favorite Customer. Today, he’s shared a video for the album’s title track. Directed by his wife, Emma Elizabeth Tillman, the clip sees Tillman wander the city streets late at night. The Mountain Goats have finally upheld a long-standing promise to WWE wrestler Sasha Banks that they would write a song for her. Banks made the request following the Mountain Goats’ concept album about pro wrestling, Beat the Champ, released in 2015. Frontman John Darnielle promised he would write it about his tour and, now, “Song for Sasha Banks” is here. The Mountain Goats last studio album was 2017’s Goths. [ Pitchfork ]
Florence + The Machine are releasing their fourth studio album, High As Hope, on June 29. Today, they’ve shared the third single from the record, “Big God.” The song was co-written with Jamie xx, who also plays drums and synths, and features saxophonist Kamasi Washington. "Big God" follows “Sky Full of Song” and “Hunger.” Florence + The Machine will take the Key Arena stage on Monday, September 10 with St. Vincent and Lizzo. [ Consequence of Sound ]
Ohio folk-rock five-piece Saintseneca have announced a new album titled Pillar of Na, due for release on August 31 via ANTI- Records. The band has also shared a new single, “Frostbiter.” Last year, the band released a string of singles and one of them, “Moon Barks at the Dog,” is included in the tracklist for Pillar of Na. The record was engineered, mixed, and produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Speedy Ortiz).
