The Flaming Lips are releasing a three-disc, 52-track deluxe edition best of compilation titled Greatest Hits Vol. 1 on June 1. Today, the long-running band has shared a new distorted black & white video for “The Captain,” an outtake from The Soft Bulletin sessions. The Flaming Lips are also releasing a new six-CD box set that collects their early work, Seeing the Unseeable: The Complete Studio Recordings of The Flaming Lips 1986-1990, on May 25 via Rhino. On April 20 they released a single disc compilation, Scratching the Door: The First Recordings of The Flaming Lips, via Rhino. On Record Store Day they released a new song, "The Story of Yum Yum and the Dragon." [ Under the Radar ]

 

Courtney Barnett has shared the fourth single off her forthcoming album Tell Me How You Really Feel, “Sunday Roast.” The song was previously shared during her Live From Here taping, but we now have the official recording as well as a cute guitar tutorial video from Barnett. The song follows “City Looks Pretty,” “Nameless, Faceless” and “Need A Little Time.” Tell Me How You Really Feel is out Friday, May 18 via Mom + Pop, Marathon Artists, and Milk! Records. Interpol have released a mini-documentary covering last year’s tour behind the 15th anniversary of their debut album, Turn on the Bright Lights. The video consists of clips from the tour and interviews with band members Paul Banks, Sam Fogarino, and Daniel Kessler. They reveal some interesting tidbits including their favorite tracks and studio trivia. Their last release was 2014’s El Pintor. [ Pitchfork ]

 

Austrian musician Fennesz has unveiled a new two-song EP called Station One, which remixes and reworks two of his previously released tracks. “Tom” was originally the opening track on the 2014 compilation Modeselektor Presents Modeselektion Vol. 3. “Silk Road,” on the other hand, has never actually been properly released but was played on a loop for a full day as part of an installation at the Red Bull Music Academy in New York in 2014.
