The message is clear: the future is female. With the inception of both the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, the fight against sexual harassment and assault is stronger than ever. Amplified by the public voices of celebrity, issues like the Gender Pay Gap are being openly addressed. All of which makes this year's International Women's Day theme more important: #PressForProgress. As they explain on their website, "Now, more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. A strong call to #PressforProgress. A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive."

To celebrate, today, KEXP is spotlighting local non-profit the Rain City Rock Camp for Girls, an organization whose mission is "to empower girls, women, and gender non-conforming individuals to engage their creative potential through music." Throughout the day, we'll have live performances from some of their alumni. Check out the schedule below:

Time Band Program/Ages
9:30 AM MJTK Summer Camp: girls and non-gender-conforming youth ages 8-18
12:00 PM Amplified Teen Voices All Stars Amplified Teen Voices: 13-19
3:00 PM New Century Queens Ladies Rock Camp: 21+ womxn (cis/trans/non-binary)

Along with these live performances, we'll also be playing all-women artists from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PT, and we're spotlighting some of these powerful tracks below. This is not just a "day," it's a start.
