Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House have finally revealed the details of their forthcoming seventh album, aptly titled 7.It's set for release on May 11th via Sub Pop and according to the press release: “Their approach in the creation of 7 was rebirth and rejuvenation. Scally and Legrand used to limit themselves to what they thought they could perform live, but this time that limitation was ignored. Also, instead of one long studio session, Beach House recorded when inspired by batches of songs, which resulted in five mini-sessions over the course of eleven months.” They've also shared the second single, "Dive," which follows last month's "Lemon Glow." A tour has been announced but, unfortunately, no Seattle date is listed. There's a Portland date on Friday, August 10 at Keller Auditorium and a Vancouver B.C. performance on Sunday, August 12 if you're willing to road trip to see them. [ Consequence of Sound ]

Simian Mobile Disco have released the second chapter in a trilogy of creepy videos by Kiani Del Valle for songs off the British duo's upcoming album Murmurations. The initial video was released last month for the song "Caught in a Wave" and saw a group of moshing people come to a halt as two particularly off-setting women with shaved heads entered the room. The second video, for the song "Hey Sister" follows the same main character. Del Valle says this about the video: "I wanted to create an abstract allegory for personal battles of longing/searching. The choreographic sequences explore perseverance, failure and external magnetic forces and thereby display the emotional journey of our main female character.... I envisioned the lyrics of the song as voices that call our main character to 'get closer' or go further down this unknown path." Murmurations was made with London's all-female Deep Throat Choir and will be out May 11 via Wichita. Simian Mobile Disco will play the Neptune Theatre on Thursday, June 14. [ Under the Radar ]

Beach Slang leader James Alex released an EP last year under the moniker Quiet Slang called We Were Babies & We Were Dirtbags, which reworked Beach Slang's previous upbeat punk songs into slowed down orchestral pop. Today, Alex has announced that he'll be releasing a debut album under the new project on May 18 via Polyvinyl. Taking a similar format, the first Quiet Slang single from the album is "Dirty Cigarettes," which is an updated version of a Beach Slang song from 2014's Cheap Thrills on a Dead End Street EP. The accompanying video features Of Montreal/Elephant 6’s Heather McIntosh and the Mynabirds' Laura Burhenn. The album will be called Everything Matters But No One Is Listening. Quiet Slang are embarking on their first tour next week, with a stop in Seattle on Saturday, April 14 at the Showbox. [ Pitchfork ]
