• Last Friday, the Decemberists released their new album, I'll Be Your Girl, and last night they stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform two songs off the album. The band chose "Severed" and "We All Die Young," which both show off the new synth-heavy direction the band has gone on their eighth studio album. Frontman Colin Meloy has said of the new sound: "When you've been a band for 17 years, inevitably there are habits you fall into," Meloy further explained. "So our ambition this time was really just to get out of our comfort zone. That's what prompted working with a different producer and using a different studio. We wanted to free ourselves from old patterns and give ourselves permission to try something different." I'll Be Your Girl is out now on Capitol Records. • Danish post-punk quartet Iceage are finally following up 2014's Plowing Into The Field of Love in May with Beyondless. Today, they've shared the third single from the album, "Take It All," an expansive, atmospheric track that follows "Catch It" and the Sky Ferreira-featuring "Pain Killer." Beyondless is out May 4 on Matador. Iceage are making a stop in Seattle on Thursday, May 10 to play at the Nordic Museum in Ballard. [ The Fader ]
• Daniel Lopatin hasn't released a proper Oneohtrix Point Never album since 2015's Garden of Delete. Instead, he's been busying himself with making the soundtrack to 2017's thriller Good Time (for which, he won a Cannes award) and doing collaborations with David Byrne and Ishmael Butler. Today, he's unveiled a new audiovisual experience called MYRIAD to be debuted at New York's Park Avenue Armory during 2018's Red Bull Music Festival. MYRIAD is being billed as “a multi-level, daring, immersive performance” taking place at the Park Avenue Armory on May 22 and 24. [ Tiny Mixtapes ]
• Experimental hip-hop trio Death Grips have recently been teasing that a new album was in the works and today they've officially announced the title, Year of the Snitch. Overnight the band tweeted, "Someone snitched," while the landing page of their website revealed the title. The group recently shared that they were working with Andrew Adamson, most known for directing Shrek and Shrek 2, as well as Tool bassist Justin Chancellor. No word on when the album will drop, but knowing Death Grips it could be any moment now. The band's last album was 2016's Bottomless Pit. [ Pitchfork ]
