Janelle Monáe announced last week that her first new album in five years would be called Dirty Computer. Today, she officially announced its arrival and described it as a "narrative film and accompanying musical album." We get a snippet of what that means with the first two singles and videos, "Make Me Feel" and "Django Jane." Both are highly stylized with intricate choreography but the former is a lighter, poppier dance jam while "Django Jane" is a heavier rap song. Dirty Computer is out April 28 via Monáe's imprint Wondaland Records. Parquet Courts have stopped the teasing and have finally announced their upcoming release titled Wide Awake!, the Brooklyn band's first album since 2016's Human Performance. In an interesting and unexpected move, the album was created with pop producer Danger Mouse. The band has shared the first taste of the album today: "Almost Had To Start a Fight/In and Out of Patience" along with a lyric video featuring artwork from frontman Andrew Savage. Wide Awake! is out May 18 via Rough Trade Records. The Breeders are returning next week with their first album in 10 years, All Nerve. It's also the band's first release with the classic lineup from 1993's Last Splash of Kim and Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs, and Jim Macpherson. Today, the band has shared the third single off the album, "Nervous Mary," following the title track and "Wait in the Car." The band also debuted the "Breeders Digest" playlist generator which creates a personalized Breeders playlist via Spotify based off a series of questions. All Nerve is out March 2 via 4AD. George Lewis, Jr. has announced a new Twin Shadow album to be released April titled Caer. It's his first release since 2015's Warner Bros. debut Eclipse and the mixtape Night Rally, released the same year. Soon after, the Twin Shadow tour bus crashed and Lewis injured his hand fairly severely, needing reconstructive surgery. Today, Lewis has shared two songs off the new album: "Saturdays," featuring HAIM, and "Little Woman." Lewis claims that Caer will be a companion album to his 2010 debut album Forget, saying: "in that it's a record with hidden doorways and secret passages; more is revealed the more time you spend inside of it."  Caer is out April 27 via Reprise. Aaron Maine released the latest Porches album, The House, last month. Today, he's shared a video for the track "Goodbye," off the album. It was co-directed by Maine and Nick Harwood, who collaborated with Maine on previous videos, "Country" and "Find Me." In it, Maine plays a pianist named Ricky Pepsi, who intricately sets up for a performance in the back of a church, putting down chairs and setting out snacks. The House is out now on Domino Records. Porches will stop by Seattle during their North American tour on Saturday, March 3 to play Neumos. [ Paste ]
