When Father John Misty stopped by KEXP last year, following the release of Pure Comedy, he mentioned that he already had another album under his belt. Today, a song has been released without any mention of whether it's on the said forthcoming album. "Mr. Tillman" sees Josh Tillman telling the story of an altercation between himself and a hotel employee after a psychotic break. It comes with a funny video of Tillman bumbling around and dancing in front of a green screen of hotel stock images. Pure Comedy is out now on Sub Pop. [ Rolling Stone ]
Hot Chip frontman Alexis Taylor has announced that he'll be dropping a new solo album called Beautiful Thing this April. Today, he's shared the album's title track which, unlike his last album Piano, sees Taylor taking cues from his Hot Chip work for a skittering electronic track. For the first time in Taylor's solo career, he's working with an outside producer: Tim Goldsworthy of UNKLE. The song comes with a video directed by Edwin Burdis which features Taylor mysteriously walking around with a briefcase, while a woman dances down a country road. Beautiful Thing is out April 20 via Domino. [ Under the Radar ]

Last year, Phil Elverum delivered possibly the most devastating album ever made under his Mount Eerie project. A Crow Looked At Medelved into the loss of Elverum's wife and his grief in the wake of her death. Rather than take a breather, Elverum is releasing another album next month called Now Only. Based on the single "TIntin In Tibet," released today, the subject matter hasn't changed. Elverum's grief is still looming large and his wife is clearly on the forefront of his brain, as he recalls the beginning of their relationship as well as her current absence. Now Only is out March 16 via Elverum's label P.W. Elverum & Sun. [ Consequence of Sound ]
