M.I.A. has unveiled a video for “Reload,” a song that dates back to 2004. The track only recently emerged on the soundtrack for the documentary on the rapper/singer/songwriter/producer/ activist’s life titled MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. “Reload” was co-written by Justine Frishmann of the ‘90s English band Elastica prior to M.I.A.’s debut 2005 record Arular. The simple video was shot in Frishmann’s basement in 2004 and sees M.I.A. and three dancers having fun dancing to the song while wearing sunglasses.
MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. was released digitally this week. The documentary was directed by Stephen Loveridge and scored by Paul Hicks and Dhani Harrison. It won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award at 2018’s Sundance Film Festival.
