Mike Krol has revealed the latest single from his upcoming album Power Chords, out Jan. 25 via Merge. Titled “I Wonder,” the scuzzy breakup song has a buoyant riff and features vocals from Swearin’s Allison Crutchfield.

“‘I Wonder’ was an attempt to write an apologetic breakup song, rather than the ‘It’s all your fault’ route I normally take,” Krol said in a statement. “I wanted to write something that was more mature in approach following a mutual breakup, or one that maybe stung at the time but years later you can admit it was for the best and wish that person well.”

The song follows the previously shared album singles “An Ambulance” and “Little Drama.” Power Chords is Krol’s first new record since 2015’s Turkey. Last year, his first two albums were reissued into one compilation titled Mike Krol Is Never Dead: The First Two Records.
