Local trio Wimps have shared a Marcy Stone-Francois directed video for “O.P.P.,” off of the band's third LP, Garbage People, released earlier this year via Kill Rock Stars The narrative of “O.P.P.” is rather straightforward: drummer David Ramm has an issue with coveting other people’s pizza – but only if it’s cheese. In the video, this narrative is also straightforwardly portrayed, with Ramm playing a pizza delivery guy who has to muster every ounce of strength to not keep the pizzas he delivers for himself.
“Cheese pizza is no joking matter,” Dave tells BrooklynVegan, where the video premiered. “I grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and ate the finest cheese pizzas in the world. I actually got a part-time job as a pizza delivery guy to do research for my role in this video. Just kidding. But seriously. Pizza is serious business… only if it’s cheese.”
Catch Wimps at the Central Saloon on Saturday, Nov. 3 with Portland band Lithics. Below, watch the video for “O.P.P.” and Wimps’ KEXP in-studio performance from 2015.
