Gorillaz/Blur mastermind Damon Albarn has announced he’s reviving his supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen for a new album titled Merrie Land. Made up of Albarn, the Clash’s Paul Simonon, the Verve’s Simon Tong, and Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, the quartet released an impromptu album under the name eleven years ago. Merrie Land will be out Nov, 16 and will be self-released on the band’s new Studio 13 label.
Produced by legendary David Bowie producer Tony Visconti (the band’s last album was produced by Danger Mouse), Merrie Land was written as “a reluctant goodbye letter, a series of observations and reflections on Britishness in 2018″ and a “beautiful and hopeful paean to the Britain of today, an inclusive Britain, currently in an Anglo-Saxostentialist crisis at the end of a relationship, wondering what might be salvaged.”
