In two days, Lorely Rodriguez will drop her sophomore Empress Of album Us via Terrible Records. Today, she’s shared one last single off the album, “I Don’t Even Smoke Weed.” The propulsive song touches on the euphoria of new love as well as Rodriguez’s disdain for marijuana. "I Don't Even Smoke Weed" follows the previously shared singles “Trust Me Baby,” “When I’m With Him,” and the DJDS-produced “Love For Me.”
Us follows Rodriguez’s 2015 debut record Me and features production from Dev Hynes of Blood Orange, Spanish producer Pional, and DJDS. Us sees Rodriguez incorporating Spanish into her lyrics on a number of songs. “I use Spanish [when] something is so personal that I can’t really sing about it in English,” Rodriquez has previously explained. “It’s almost like an alter ego to sing in Spanish.”
