  • Seattle's own Shabazz Palaces recently released two new albums, Quazarz: Born On A Gangster Star and Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines via Sub Pop. The single "Shine A Light" featuring Thaddillac has gotten the video treatment from director Neil Ferron and it's a little eerie. According to a press release, the black & white clip “tells the story of a half-human/half-goat baby that gets ritualistically sacrificed at a countryside, teenage wedding.” Shabazz Palaces member Ishmael Butler happens to be the half-human/half-goat. • LCD Soundsystem is returning to release their first album in seven years, American Dream, the beginning of September. Today they shared the third single, "Tonite," and a corresponding video of James Murphy and crew performing on a rotating stage under pulsating lights. They recently shared the album art, which garnered a decent amount of controversy over its simplicity. American Dream is out September 1 via Columbia Records/DFA. [ Pitchfork ]
  • Queens of the Stone Age are gearing up to release Villains on August 25 via Matador and today they shared a video for lead single "The Way You Used To Do." Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the video features frontman Josh Homme busting a move in a leather jacket. Says Homme of the video, "Dancing and headbanging are truly individualistic expressions of losing oneself fully in appreciation of music-who better to combine these things into a singular vision than someone who's directed Madonna and Lady Gaga videos-and also happens to have been a member of Bathory." Fair point. Unfortunately, the video is only available to be watched via Apple Music so if you're not a subscriber, you can only view the preview. [ Under the Radar ]
  • Foxygen have long been known for the animosity and near-constant break ups between members Jonathan Rado and Sam France. They even called their 2015 tour the Farewell Tour, which was tongue-in-cheek but also theoretically possibly their last. Their new video for "Avalon" plays on that reputation, with Rado and France butting heads over the directorial vision of the clip before bursting into the fun, vibrant, dance-filled number. Catch Foxygen when they play with The Shins and Day Wave on Saturday, September 23 at Marymoor Park. [ Stereogum ]
