Danny Newcomb, a long-time fixture of the Seattle music scene, returns with a new album tomorrow, Friday, August 11th. All the Way is the second release for the project Danny Newcomb & the Sugarmakers, but is just another addition to a lengthy discography for Newcomb who previously played in local bands Goodness and The Rockfords. Today, KEXP premieres the video for the album single "Summer Sky," and tomorrow the band performs LIVE on The Morning Show on KEXP at 9:30 AM PT.

Self-released and self-produced, All the Way was recorded in a newly-built studio in Newcomb's attic. "I produced all the rough tracks besides the drums; I wrote all the vocals and guitar arrangements and then usually rewrote until I couldn't think of a better word to write. I've never had the time before to sit with a song for a week and then go back and tear it down to the drums, rewrite the guitars, the words, the vocal melody, and then recut it all. I did that with half the tracks. I guess it sounds simple, sitting with something, but how often do we really get the chance? It's only when you have to do it yourself."

While today's featured video shows Newcomb under the sun, he says the new album is a little darker than his 2015 debut with The Sugarmakers, Masterwish. "Dark and light at the same time." he explains. "So much of being human seems to be shadow and light, the laughter and the fury, the joy of spending and the pain of saving. It's a lot about the imbalances of love. All the Way is the best record I've done. It feels like the first step in a new direction, on a path where the sun is out and throwing crisp shadows across the grass, and I'm not thinking about a thing but where I'm headed."

Following their Morning Show in-studio, Danny Newcomb & the Sugarmakers play a FREE, all ages album release show Friday night at Easy Street Records, starting at 7:00 PM.
