  • On the one month anniversary of the death of guitarist Dave Rosser of The Afghan Whigs, the band is paying tribute by releasing a cover of Pleasure Club's "You Want Love," one of Rosser's favorite songs. “Pleasure Club was a legendary New Orleans band and Dave Rosser and I had spoken for years about performing this song. In light of his passing we decided to record it in his honor," said Whigs frontman Greg Dulli. Pleasure Club's original singer and songwriter, James Hall, returned to lend his voice to the tribute cover. The Afghan Whigs will play the Showbox on Wednesday, October 18 with Har Mar Superstar. • Hamilton Leithauser has contributed a track to the benefit compilation Philia: Artists Rise Against Islamophobia. His choice was a cover of "The Song With No Name," originally recorded by Irish folk-punk group Shane MacGowan And The Popes. “With so many real problems in the world, it is disheartening that the President of the United States continues to preach base xenophobia, dim-witted anger, and hate,” said Leithauser. “His signature accomplishment thus far is the amplification of irrational fear and prejudice.” Catch Hamilton Leithauser on Wednesday, November 15 at the Neptune Theatre.
