'90s/early 2000's dream pop outfit Luna have two new albums in the works, a covers album called A Sentimental Education and an instrumental EP called A Place of Greater Safety. Today they've shared a track from A Sentimental Education, a cover of Mink DeVille's "Let Me Dream If I Want To." They've previously shared a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "One Together," for the same album. Luna split up in 2005 but reunited in 2015 for some shows. The band haven't released a new album in 13 years, since 2004's Rendezvous. [ Under the Radar ]
Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Isbell released his latest album The Nashville Sound last month, which gives equal billing to his backing band 400 Unit. For the new music video for lead single "Hope The High Road" they decided to capture the feeling of their live performances by, well, recording their live performance. Recorded at Pulse Lighting in Nashville, the video was shot and edited by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard. Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit will play the Paramount on Tuesday, September 12. [ Stereogum ]
Daniel Lopatin's experimental recording alias Oneohtrix Point Never has a new single "Leaving the Park," the second from his forthcoming Good Time OST. The soundtrack for the upcoming crime thriller has already earned Lopatin the Cannes Soundtrack Award and will be released next month with the film. According to the press release, ‘Leaving The Park’ is the “centerpiece” to the film’s award-winning score, “encapsulating the paradoxical nature of the main character Connie’s struggle to manipulate reality as it spins out of control.” Good Time is directed by the Safie Brothers and stars Robert Pattinson. EMA will release her new album Exile In The Outer Ring next month and to keep us satiated until then she's shared a (kind of gross) video for the recently-released single "Down And Out." Directed by Alicia J. Rose, the video features the artist known to the government as Erika M. Anderson but is primarily focused on performance artist Taj Bourgeois, who spends the majority of the video disfiguring himself with various objects. Exile In The Outer Ring is due out Aug. 25 on City Slang Records. [ NPR ]
