Chaz Bundick, who now goes by Chaz Bear, has announced a new Toro Y Moi album, Boo Boo, and shared a video for its first single, "Girl Like You." Boo Boo will be released July 7th via Carpark. In a lengthy statement about the album, Bear describes falling into a crisis of identity because of his fame and turned to ambient music to help cope with these feelings. "By the time I felt ready to begin working on a new record, I knew that this idea of space within music would be something that propelled my new work forward. The artists that were influencing what I was making included everyone from Travis Scott to Daft Punk, Frank Ocean to Oneohtrix Point Never, Kashif and Gigi Masin. I recognized that the common thread between these artists was their attention to a feeling of space, or lack thereof. I decided that I wanted to make a Pop record with these ideas in mind. That idea for a record is what eventually became Boo Boo." No word on any touring plans. [ Under the Radar ]

Jason Loewenstein of the pioneering lo-fi indie band Sebadoh has released his first solo album in 15 years, after the album III in 1991. The album is titled Spooky Action and due out on June 16th via Joyful Noise Recordings. "I need to make a solo record every 15 years or so, it helps keep me limber," said Loewenstein, who recorded and produced the album entirely on his own. The album is streaming in full on Soundcloud ahead of the official release. [ Consequence of Sound ]

The supergroup LIV, made up of Lykki Li, producer Jeff Bhasker, Miike Snow members Andrew Wyatt and Pontus Winnberg, and Björn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John are back with a new song called “Heaven.” They've previously released the singles "Dream Awake" and "Wings of Love." Along with the song, the band left this message which appear to be the lyrics to "Heaven": "I know it’s hell, I know it's helpless. But it feels like heaven is waiting for us. I know it’s hard, to feel so heartless. But I know that heaven is waiting for us." [ Pitchfork ]
Tycho is known for creating full, luscious ambient works but Scott Hansen has never used vocals - until now. A new version of "See," originally on Tycho's 2014 album AWAKE has been remixed by Beacon, who grooved it up and added vocals from Thomas Mullareney III to the atmospheric track. The remix caught the attention Hansen, who was so moved by the Brooklyn duo’s rendition he asked Mullarney to join him for a live performance of the song at Coachella—the first time Tycho had ever performed with a vocalist. The remix now has a video and an official release. Tycho is playing Marymoor Park on Tuesday, June 27th with Todd Terje. [ Consequence of Sound ]

Dirty Projectors played their first show in four years at the opening night of Brooklyn's Northside Festival last night and performed their new self-titled album in full. It was the first time the new material has been played live outside of late-night performances and it's one of the Dirty Projectors' only scheduled tour dates for this album. He was joined on stage by Tyondai Braxton, Nat Baldwin, Olga Bell, two percussionists, four horn players, and a couple others. He also brought out Wet’s Kelly Zutrau for an encore performance of “Cool Your Heart” to take Dawn Richard’s place on the track. [ Stereogum ]
