Tuesday, April 11th is a very special edition of The Round at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, curated by Audioasis on KEXP’s DJ Sharlese! The showcase will feature amazing female talent from the Seattle area: musicians QOQO ROBOQS, Haley Heynderickx (PDX), guest poet Imani Sims, and live painter Sienna Dawn. [UPDATE: Second place winner of MoPOP’s 2017 Sound Off! Competition Falon Sierra has just been added to this powerful line-up!] “Each of these talented ladies come from different backgrounds of art and music”, says Sharlese Metcalf. "The idea was to put all of my thoughts, individual conversations and intense love, spirit and inspiration into one room. Each one of these beautiful artists contribute something to me personally and to the Seattle arts scene and it was a true honor to curate this showcase!" The Round is a monthly event held on second Tuesdays at the Fremont Abbey in Seattle. Founded by Nathan Marion in 2005, the Seattle edition has occurred for 122 months in a row (as of July 2015) and is mostly volunteer powered. The Round has, or is, also happening at various times in other cities like Spokane WA, Portland OR, Tacoma WA, Anacortes WA, Whidbey Island WA, Austin TX, Lebanon PA, Vashon Island WA, and more. This curated event brings together three different songwriters often with some backing musicians who collaborate live onstage while performing their own songs in turn. A slam poet or two also perform in between each “round” of songs and live painters/visual artists are creating on the side. The audience is always very close to the low stage, if any stage is used. The show turns out to be a unique experience each time and songwriters are only allowed to perform once a year (per city) to help keep things fresh.

All profits go to support local artists and up-and-coming developing acts are often paired up with more established singers or poets. This event is all ages, and tickets are available here and at the door.
