  • Previous Mercury Prize-nominees Django Django have shared the second single from their forthcoming album Marble Skies. The track is called "In Your Beat" and comes with a pop-art inspired collage video directed by SKG (Sophie Koko-Gate) with art direction by Brodie Kaman. The band's producer/drummer David Maclean said he was a big fan of Brodie's graphic style and his influences from rave flyers and DIY punk aesthetics. I had the idea that we could make his posters into a video and bring them to life. He was into the idea so we brought Sophie on board to animate his mocked-up posters and bring the band into his 2D poster world." Marble Skies is out January 26 via Ribbon Music. [ Under the Radar ]
  • English art rock duo Field Music are releasing a new album called Open Here early next year. Ahead of its release, they've shared the album's first single, the politically-charged "Count It Up." The song was inspired by the stark reality of the Brexit vote, of which the band's town of Sunderland was the first place the voted in favor of it. The lyrics of the song focus on the types of entitlement that privileged persons experience that they may be unaware of, such as “If you can go through day to day without the fear of violence, count that up / If people don’t stare at you in the street because of the color of your skin, count that up / If your body makes some kind of sense to you, count that up.” Open Here is out February 2 via Memphis Industries. • Miguel is officially releasing his fourth studio album War & Leisure this Friday and ahead of its release the R&B singer has announced a slew of US tour dates. After a couple of one-off shows, the tour will start in Portland in February, with Seattle being his second stop on February 23 to play the Showbox SoDo. The tour will end in April in Berkeley, California. War & Leisure is out Friday, December 1 and follows up 2015's Wildheart. [ Pitchfork ]
  • Spoon may have released Hot Thoughts all the way back in March but the band is still solidly milking the album. This week Spoon is in New York, with a very busy week of performances planned. They're playing two nights at the Brooklyn Steel, tonight and tomorrow. Saturday morning they're stopping by CBS This Morning Saturday for a performance and interview. Then Saturday night they'll be the guests on A Prairie Home Companion. All this got kicked off last night with a rousing performance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, where the band played "Do I Have to Talk You Into It?" Spoon will be in Seattle for two nights on Thursday, January 11 and Friday, January 12 to perform at the Showbox with White Reaper. [ Brooklyn Vegan ]
  • Frank Ocean ended Cyber Monday, where he released physical copies of his visual album Endless, with an interesting post on Tumblr. It seems Ocean may have an album done that's he's sitting on. “WELL I️ MADE THE ALBUM BEFORE 30. I️ JUST AINT PUT THAT BITCH OUT!” -QUOTES FROM AN INTERVIEW I️ HAVEN’T GIVEN HAHA" says the note. In 2012 Ocean tweeted that he would make 5 albums before he turned 30, so if he indeed does have an album completed then he would have completed that task. Fingers crossed he doesn't sit on it too much longer! [ Stereogum ]
