  • The soundtrack for the 1996 film Trainspotting was so revered, they even released a second volume. The same might end up being true for the sequel T2 Trainspotting, in theaters February 10th. Director Danny Boyle has yet again curated a fantastic mix, including artists you might expect like Ziggy Pop -- I mean, Iggy ("Iggy Pop's not dead! He toured last year!") -- and Underworld, but also some standout new artists like Wolf Alice and Young Fathers. Check out the track "Only God Knows" below, just one of the six songs they have on the soundtrack. Via a press release, Boyle says, "Trainspotting, the original book is like a modern Ulysses. It’s unsurpassed I think, and reading it is still like the ‘rush of ocean to the heart.’ You’re always looking for the heartbeat of a film. For Trainspotting it was Underworld’s ’Born Slippy.’ For T2 it’s Young Fathers. Their songs are my heartbeat for the film. And ’Only God Knows’ is that rush again. The ocean. The heart." Reported release dates are all over the place (is it January 27th or March 17th?), so let's just say, in stores soon. [ Stereogum ]

  • They've rolled out a new song and teased a new album, and now Arcade Fire report a new DVD/Blu-Ray on the way. Titled The Reflektor Tapes / Live at Earls Court, the film features interviews and candid moments from the band, as well as a concert filmed at London's Earls Court during the Reflektor Tour in 2014. Look for that on January 27th, and check out a clip from the collection below. [ Pitchfork ]

  • Real Estate have announced a new album and shared its first single, "Darling." Listen/watch below in a charming video directed by Weird Days, co-starring a beautiful horse named Like No Other aka Moose. (The credits also reveal, it took four "horse wranglers" to make the video happen.) This will be the band's first album without founding guitarist Matt Mondanile who left the band last year to focus on his Ducktails project. He's been replaced by Julian Lynch. The LP In Mind hits stores on March 17th via Domino. [ Under the Radar ]

  • Not only has she written, recorded, and released a fantastic album, but Angel Olsen has also been directing her own videos. Check out another one, co-directed with frequent collaborator Jethro Waters for the track "Pops." The LP My Woman is out now via Jagjaguwar, and Olsen headlines the next Little Big Show on Saturday, February 18th at the Neptune Theatre. [ Consequence of Sound ]
