  • Pitchfork is launching a new series titled Our First 100 Days, and the first track comes from Angel Olsen. Check out the exclusive new track "Fly on Your Wall" below. There will be 99 more songs to come from artists including, Ty Segall, Protomartyr, Waxahatchee, Mitski, Whitney, Toro Y Moi, Will Oldham, the Mountain Goats, How to Dress Well, and many others. All proceeds from subscribing to the series are being donated to the following charities: All Above All, Cosecha, Hoosier Action, People’s Climate Movement, and Southerners On New Ground. [ Pitchfork]

  • Our friends at local label Barsuk Records have also released a compilation with proceeds going to charity. SAD! is seven songs of Barsuk artists covering their label mates. For example, hear David Bazan cover The Long Winters below. Other pairings include Nada Surf covering John Vanderslice, and Mates of State covering Death Cab for Cutie. 100% of the proceeds will go to the American Civil Liberties Union, and Barsuk says, 'til the end of January, 100% of the proceeds from all Barsuk Records releases sold through Bandcamp will also be donated to the ACLU. [ Broadway World]

  • Proceeds from the sale of the collection Battle Hymns are being donated to ACLU, as well as Planned Parenthood and climate-change activist group 350.org. Spearheaded by Sam Coomes and Janet Weiss of Quasi, the track list boasts some great names, such as Stephen Malkmus, Mac McCaughan (of Superchunk), Boss Hog, Doug Martsch (of Built to Spill), and, well, duh, Quasi. Via a press release, they state simply, this album was "created in direct response to the current political situation in the U.S.A." [ Spin]

  • And finally, The National unveiled a new song last night at a Planned Parenthood benefit concert in DC. Watch fan-shot footage of the track (possibly titled "Turtleneck") below. [ Stereogum]
