  • It's looking like we'll have a new Arcade Fire album in 2017! Drummer Jeremy Gara confirmed to Red Bull Poland that they've finished recording all the tracks for the new LP, and it "should come out this year." He adds, the band are "still mixing and trying to decide which songs will end up on the record, because we’ve recorded more than we need." No matter what, the band isn't rushing. "I know we’re a popular band, but we always stick to the same rule; we record until we feel that the music is ready." As far as a tour, Gara speculates there will be two years on the road. "I don’t know where we’re going to play, I don’t know when we start, or when we finish. From my perspective, it looks like Arcade Fire starts in April and finish around April 2019." Stay tuned, Arcade Fire fans. [ Consequence of Sound]
  • Last night, The Flaming Lips stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in support of their upcoming release, Oczy Mlody. Watch Wayne Coyne and crew perform the single "The Castle" below, sans plastic bubble, but with plenty of psychedelic lights. Oczy Mlody will be out this Friday via Warner Bros., and you can always keep track of these late-night musical highlights with KEXP's TV Eye. [ Under the Radar]

  • Spiral Stairs, aka Scott Kannberg of '90s icons Pavement, is back with a new album, Doris and the Daggers, out March 24th via Domino. It's the first new music from Kannberg since 2009’s The Real Feel. Check out the single "Dance (Cry Wolf)" below, which features Grandaddy frontman Jason Lytle in the video. As for the album, you can expect guest appearances from Kevin Drew and Justin Peroff of Broken Social Scene and Matt Berninger of the National. [ Spin]

  • UK and KEXP darling Laura Marling shares another track from her upcoming release, Semper Femina, out March 10th on her own label, More Alarming Records (via Kobalt Music Recordings). Check out the single "Wild Fire" below via a lyric video. Marling has said previously, via a press release, she started out writing the album "as if a man was writing about a woman, and then I thought; ‘it’s not a man, it’s me.' I don’t need to pretend it’s a man to justify the intimacy, or the way I’m looking and feeling about women. It’s me looking specifically at women and feeling great empathy towards them, and by proxy, towards myself." [ Consequence of Sound]
