  • Grimes is a self-admitted comic book dork -- she designed a variant cover for Image Comics' The Wicked + The Divine, and is a former intern for Drawn & Quarterly -- so, it's no surprise she was excited to contribute a track to the soundtrack for Suicide Squad, adapted from the DC comic. In an interview with Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio, she admits she was so happy she cried. She also shared the single, "Medieval Warfare," which you can stream below. Suicide Squad: The Album is out August 5th, and the movie itself (which stars Jared Leto, Will Smith, and a bunch of others) opens nationwide this Friday. [Under the Radar]

  • Detroit post-punk band Protomartyr are the latest to take part in Adult Swim's Summer Singles Series. (Yes, the late night TV channel!) Check out the biting track "Born to Be Wine" below. KEXP presents Protomartyr this Friday, August 5th at Neumos. [Spin]

  • KEXP Old Home in-studio chameleons EL VY share the ninth video (not that we're counting or anything) from their debut LP Return to the Moon. As always, directed by Matt's brother Tom Berninger, the clip is both a behind-the-scenes look at its creation, and the video itself featuring some action figure shenanigans, wrestling, and fun animation. Watch below: [Stereogum]

  • And soul star Charles Bradley shares a new video today, too. Watch the clip for "Good to Be Back Home" below, filmed around Bradley's home in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn with some footage from his recent U.S. tour. It may be good to be back home, but he never stays there for long. He's heading back on the road this fall, because he is unstoppable: catch him Thursday, September 15th at the Neptune Theatre.
