  • CHVRCHES and Death Cab for Cutie have recently hit the road together, and last night in Charleston, SC, frontwoman Lauren Mayberry joined the Seattle band on stage for "Brothers on a Hotel Bed," a track from 2005's Plans. Watch fan shot video of their collaboration below. We've also got fan shot footage of frontman Ben Gibbard storming off-stage later during the set. Apparently, some "drunken" fans in the crowd had started a fight, and Gibbstack had just had enough. He reportedly returned and the band finished the show. Death Cab play a hometown show on Labor Day weekend at Bumbershoot, sans CHVRCHES, and hopefully, sans violent, drunken fans. [Under the Radar]

  • Ben Gibbard isn't the only one who had a rough time on stage last night: during her opening slot for Florence + The Machine at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Grimes walked off stage mid-set. In the middle of "World Princess Part II," she stopped and told the crowd, "We just had a really disturbing thing happen to us earlier today, so I’m sorry if my voice is shaking. It’s just kind of a fucked day." She's yet to address the incident on social media. In any case, everyone at KEXP hopes she's okay. [The 405]

  • Later this year, Sacred Bones Records plans to release a tribute album to Nico, the icy Velvet Underground vocalist and Warhol superstar. Titled Killer Road, the album revolves around her untimely death in Ibiza in 1988. Stream the title track below, featuring Patti Smith reading Nico's poems and lyrics over music by Soundwalk Collective (a trio of Stephan Crasneanscki, Simone Merli and Kamran Sadeghi). Killer Road will be out September 2nd. [Consequence of Sound]

  • Beloved west coast weirdos Deerhoof share a full album stream of their lucky 13th full-length, The Magic. Listen below, via NPR Music. Apparently, the band abandoned the comforts of a recording studio, rented an abandoned office in the New Mexico desert, and just... played. One week later, the band had 15 new songs. Magical, indeed! The Magic hits stores on June 24th via Polyvinyl. [NPR Music]
