February kicks off with plenty of new music for you to love, including the debut from Nevermen, a super group featuring TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe, Faith No More's Mike Patton, and rapper Doseone. KEXP Music Director Don Yates calls the release "an adventurous blend of avant-rock, hip hop, soul, doo wop and more, featuring a diverse set of playful songs combining a densely produced, atmospheric sound with alternating vocals, soaring harmonies and left-field pop hooks."
Bonnie "Prince" Billy shares a collection of his Peel Sessions for BBC Radio 1, including a cover of Prince's "The Cross" and a previously unreleased original called "Beezle." Merge Records releases the latest from Benji Hughes, a former commercial jingle writer (remember “Got a Little Captain in You?” for Captain Morgan rum?).
Cross Record return with their sophomore full-length. Yates says the latest from, "the Dripping Springs, TX-via-Chicago husband-and-wife duo of Emily Cross and Dan Duszynski is a haunting set of folk-tinged avant-pop combining a doom-laden, atmospheric sound with ethereal vocals." Another duo, DJDS (aka Samo Sound Boy and Jerome LOL (formerly known as DJ Dodger Stadium) share their second album, "a strong set of emotive house grooves combining propulsive rhythms, soulful vocals and buoyant melodies." British band MONEY share "a fine set of sweeping orchestral pop combining a full, majestic sound with Jamie Lee's impassioned vocals and often-bleak lyrics."
