Mateo Kingman - Sendero Del Monte (MP3)
Chilly's pick for today is "Sendero Del Monte" by Mateo Kingman from the 2016 album Respira on AYA Records. Says Chilly...
Raised in the lush green city of Macas, Ecuador, Mateo Kingman absorbed the spirit of the Amazon and the sounds of its natural surroundings and people. He began playing guitar, drums and traditional instruments there, as well as excelling in the 100 meter hurdles, before moving to Quito in 2012 to launch his music career. Ecuador is high on my list of flowering, yet underrated, music scenes in South America from the internationally-lauded electronics of Nicola Cruz to the sharp, nostalgic rock of El Extraño. Mateo's debut LP, Respira, is a symbiotic fusion of nature samples and beats and instrumentation that captures the eternity of his landscape and the modern world in which we all populate - traditional Latin sounds and hip-hop, along with pop and rock. It's a refreshing mood perfect for introspective head bobbing.
Find out more about Mateo Kingman on his website and Facebook page. For now, check out the official video for "Lluvia", the first single from Respira, below.
