Sorry, kitty - only humans are invited to the Helsing Junction Sleepover in Rochester, WA, this Friday, August 14th through Sunday, August 16th!
This annual weekend-long extravaganza is run by legendary local label K Records, and as always, they've assembled an eccentric line-up of acts including Arrington De Dionyso’s Malaikat Dan Singa, Generifus, PETS, Mega Bruiser, The Hinges, Tender Forever, Alexander’s Real Time Band, Selector Dub Narcotic (aka K Records founder Calvin Johnson), Super 8, Woolen Warrior, New Born Babies, Houndstooth, Iji, Young Pioneers, UK Gold, Ghost Ease, Gyasi Ross, Silas Blak, Gary Allan May, and Sick Sad World. The event takes place at the Helsing Junction Organic Farm, a beautiful open space by the Chehalis River (bring your swimsuit!). There's space for dancing, stretching out on bales of hay, and two nights of camping in the nearby orchard and fallow fields. Local vendors will serve homemade organic food, independent films will be screened, and a Northwest Literary Showcase will be held on Saturday.
Passes are still available, and can be purchased online here.
With a brimming abundance of food, art, and music festivals this year, summer in the PNW has never been better. Now adding to that is the fifth annual VanFest, taking place this Saturday, August 15th in Maple Valley, WA.
