  • Local duo THEESatisfaction share a truly triptacular video for the title track off their most recent release, EarthEE, out now via Sub Pop. The clip, directed by Maikoiyo Alley-Barnes, also features label-mates and collaborators Porter Ray and Ishmael Butler of Shabazz Palaces. Alley-Barns describes the video as "a short visual meditation on the textile traditions of home, sacred Geo Metrics, theta based communication and the whirling dervish. A sonically driven work of ancient Afro continuum…" Watch below. THEESatisfaction are playing a free show on Friday, August 7th as part of the South Lake Union Block Party. [Stereogum]

  • If you missed The Midday Show on KEXP premiere, check out a new track from UK band Foals below, titled "Mountain at My Gates." In a press release, frontman Yannis Philippakis says he was inspired by themes of "cultural identity, generational anxiety, cynicism, pessimism and heartbreak," adding, "I wanted to tap into my inner madman and feel like I was channeling some sort of fevered creature." "Mountain at My Gates" will appear on the band's forthcoming full-length What Went Down, out August 28th through Warner Music. [Consequence of Sound]

  • As if he can't write his own songs fast enough, Ty Segall also loves to cover glam rocker T. Rex. For Record Store Day, he's shared the Ty-Rex 12" in 2011 and the Ty-Rex II 7" in 2013. Goner Records has just announced they'll be celebrating Black Friday (November 27th) by releasing an expanded Ty-Rex collection, including an unreleased cover of "20th Century Boy." Check out his cover of "Buick Mackane" below. And if you happen to be in Memphis this September for Goner Fest, you'll catch a one-off show from Segall as "Ty-Rex." Here's hoping he wears the make-up. [Pitchfork]

  • For their 25th anniversary, UK label Heavenly Recordings commissioned Mark Lanegan and Beth Orton to cover "Your Kisses Burn," originally recorded in 1988 by Marc Almond of Soft Cell and Nico. The result is sublime; stream their version below. [Under the Radar]
