  • Veteran indie rock trio Yo La Tengo tackle iconic goth-poppers The Cure on their forthcoming covers album Stuff Like That There, out August 28th on Matador Records. Check out their rendition of the 1990 hit "Friday, I'm in Love" in this video directed by Jason Woliner. As drummer/vocalist Georgia Hubley strolls the streets of Hoboken, she brings on the end of the world with her song. (Be sure to pay close attention to the news segments.)   • If you caught the documentary Tig during SIFF earlier this year, you may have noticed a beautiful new Sharon Van Etten track in the closing credits.   • Before Radiohead, before even On a Friday, Thom Yorke fronted a band called Headless Chickens. Video has surfaced of a young Yorke performing with them at Exeter University's Lemon Grove sometime in the late '80s. Watch the well-shot footage below. Though he left the band, he took the track with him: "High and Dry" later appeared on Radiohead’s 1995 album, The Bends. [Consequence of Sound]
